Blue Grotto & Sunday Market at Marsaxlokk Fishing Village

1.Blue Grotto & Sunday Market at Marsaxlokk Fishing Village

★★★★★★★★★★3.6 · 803 reviews · 4 hours · from $35Our pick

Visit Malta’s Blue Grotto and spend free time at Marsaxlokk’s Sunday Market on a guided four-hour outing. Hotel pickup is included, and guides such as Mario, Maria, Mariela, and Mark have led past departures. The Blue Grotto boat ride costs extra and depends on sea conditions.

“Driver and guide was lovely. But only 90 minutes at the market and time you walked down the hill and allowed time to get back to the coach it only really gave us a hour. To be fair this wasn’t really the tour’s fault and more due to one group of people at the first stop returning to the coach 25 mins late delaying our time at the market.”

2.Marsaxlokk, Blue Grotto, and Qrendi Guided Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.1 · 547 reviews · 4 hours · from $45

From Valletta, ride an air-conditioned bus to Marsaxlokk, Wied iz-Zurrieq, and Qrendi. A licensed guide explains Maltese culture and history while you browse the market, view the Blue Grotto, and walk narrow village streets. The optional grotto boat ride costs extra and depends on sea conditions.

“Our guide Chantelle was amazing. Very friendly, funny and gave so much information. Very helpful! The driver (didn't quite catch his name) was also lovely. Had a lovely trip. Stopped at the Blue Grotto which was really windy but great to see. We only stopped for 10 minutes here but I'd rather have spent more time here, despite the wind, than in Qrendi. We spent ages here on a walking tour around the tiny town. We then only had about 1hr 20mins in Marsaxlokk which was just enough to get some food after spending too much time in a very long queue for 3 ladies toilets, only 2 of which…”

3.Sunday Vintage Bus to Marsaxlokk

★★★★★★★★★★4.1 · 117 reviews · 1 day · from $9Best value

Take a restored Maltese vintage bus from near Valletta’s Tourist Information Office to Marsaxlokk on Sunday. You get transport in both directions and a full-day ticket, but no guided tour. The old bus is the attraction, while Marsaxlokk offers a busy market, harbor views, restaurants, local produce, and time to explore at your own pace.

“Drive was very punctual and funny. The guide is also very helpful and gives very clear instruction. Highly recommend this hustle free vintage bus to Marsaxlokk instead of the local bus.”

4.Blue Grotto and Sunday Market at Marsaxlokk Fishing Village Tour

★★★★★★★★★★3.0 · 65 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $36

Spend about four hours visiting Malta’s Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk’s Sunday market with hotel pickup, a guide, and free time at both stops. The sea caves are best seen by optional boat, weather permitting. Guides such as Maria and Mark have been praised for clear commentary, but crowded market hours, long pickups, and tight timing can affect the day.

“Our guide Mark did a lot of explaining, so we knew what to expect.. The blue grotto is worth seeing with a little boat and the market was very nice to see. We had enough time to see both of the attractions.”
